Intra-Articular Use of PRP in Small Animal Medicine

PRP is frequently used intra-articularly to help manage joint-related conditions by reducing inflammation, supporting cartilage repair, and improving overall joint function.

Canine & Feline Intra-Articular Applications

  • Osteoarthritis (OA) – PRP is used to help reduce pain and inflammation in degenerative joint disease, slowing cartilage degradation and improving mobility.

  • Elbow & Hip Dysplasia – Helps manage joint inflammation and may support cartilage health in dysplastic joints.

  • Post-Surgical Joint Recovery – Enhances healing and reduces inflammation after orthopedic procedures such as TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) or joint arthroscopy.

  • Immune-Mediated Polyarthritis (IMPA) – May help modulate inflammation in non-infectious inflammatory joint diseases.
